Press conference at our Cologne branch

The Cologne Chamber of Industry and Commerce (IHK), the Cologne Chamber of Skilled Crafts (HWK) and the Cologne Employment Agency were our guests on October 28, 2021 to discuss the topic of "The impact of the pandemic on the regional training market" at a joint press conference with the Kölner Stadt-Anzeiger, the Kölner Wochenspiegel and Radio Köln. First and foremost, the experts exchanged statistics on the regional training market. However, they also talked about the importance of a commercial or craft apprenticeship as a foundation and first milestone of a professional career. There was a consensus that vocational training should not be seen as a plan B behind a degree programme, but could precede it. An apprenticeship offers the opportunity to gain structured insight into practice under professional guidance and to grow personally in the process. A possible subsequent choice of study is then no longer made on the basis of "pure assumptions", but on the basis of self-made experiences.
